Gustave Fayet Season 2025-2027

Since 2025, we have been celebrating the centenary of Gustave Fayet's death with a series of significant events. Exhibitions will be held in the South of France and in Paris until 2027: the perfect opportunity to (re)discover his finest works and his many facets. A unique opportunity to pay tribute to a truly extraordinary artist!

The exhibition Gustave Fayet and his imaginary gardens This exhibition offers a fresh perspective on the artist's work by highlighting the essential role nature plays in his creative process. A painter, collector, and decorator, Fayet began imagining his own unique floral universe in the 1910s, inspired as much by Odilon Redon as by the illustrated scientific works of his time. Whether real or entirely invented, he transformed flowers into poetic and fantastical motifs, which he explored across a multitude of media: canvases, pastels, watercolors, as well as rugs, fabrics, and illustrated books.

At the same time, Gustave Fayet transformed the gardens of his houses – at Fontfroide, Igny, and Costebrune – into veritable extensions of his artistic work, where Mediterranean nature and imagination intertwine. The exhibition thus unveils a multifaceted and surprising body of work, where dreamlike gardens, intimate landscapes, and reimagined floral motifs converge.
