Passing through Villeneuve lez Avignon, you won't want to miss a trip to the Abbey Plain. Classified as a sensitive natural area, it stretches from the right bank of the Rhône to the ancient hills of the city.

Located on the banks of the Rhône, the Plaine de l'Abbaye constitutes the green lung of the city. Mostly dedicated to market gardening, cereal cultivation and fruit tree plantations, This territory also serves as refuge in a pine forest and a counter-channel, the latter being renowned for being a privileged habitat for beavers.

This classified and protected place is popular with walkers and cyclists, with its paths lined with small houses, its vegetable gardens and its market garden crops. A walk of about 2 hours will allow you to follow the counter-canal and the Rhone dike.
The plain offers an ideal walking route to appreciate the Rhône, explore the local historical heritage, and observe varied flora and fauna.
