Ginette et Marcel has become Ginette's Grocery Store. The concept hasn't changed, and people still go there to eat old-fashioned toast in the vintage decor of a 40s/50s French bistro. On sunny days, we prefer the terrace.
The decor is meticulously detailed from floor to ceiling, from the counter to the period advertisements on the walls. The terrace is under the plane trees near the Corps-Saints fountain.
The menu therefore praises the tartine: the large, thick, lightly browned slices of bread are served with generous and tasty fillings, hot or cold depending on the season: fresh goat's cheese and thyme; marinated anchovies, tomato and garlic; Brie de Meaux, walnuts and acacia honey; Fourme d'Ambert and prunes; 3 cheeses and pear... with a small salad, it's perfect.
While waiting for your toast, we share a platter of cold meats or cheese.
For dessert, verrines, cakes, and tarts are all delicious. In the afternoon, meet up for a bowl of Leroux chicory or a Mariages Frères tea. Takeaway options can be ordered at the counter.
L'Épicerie de Ginette is spreading its concept and its sandwiches across France in Lyon, Rennes and Nantes.
An invitation to a gentle journey, let yourself be transported from one country to another thanks to our menu of sweet treats.
