Le Mas de Carles is an old Provençal farmhouse.
In the early 60s, Father Joseph Persat took the initiative to welcome women and men in difficulty. The goal of this welcome was to offer them a time of recovery and give them a new chance to start their lives anew.
In 1981, the Mas de Carles association was born from this first commitment.
Being welcomed into a Place to Live means being welcomed into a community of life, for the long term and accepting its rules: being housed with dignity, being able to eat healthily and regularly, sharing an activity with others in order to rediscover a dynamic life. Being once again part of a peaceful relationship with others and one's own life.
Things have changed a lot between yesterday and today, but nothing has changed.
Today, this place still welcomes people in great difficulty, mainly those who are "homeless", for stays of varying lengths. This reception provides an initial learning experience, the first link in a local, departmental, or even wider reception and integration network.
