Tour Philippe-le-Bel

The keep of a fortress built in the 13th century by the King of France, at the mouth of the famous Avignon bridge, to which it controlled access, the Philippe le Bel Tower dominates the whole of Provence.

Keep of a fortress built in the 13th century by the King of France, at the end of the famous Avignon bridge to which it controlled access, the Philippe le Bel Tower dominates the whole of Provence thanks to an exceptional panorama of Villeneuve lez Avignon, Avignon and the Rhone Valley.

The tower has beautiful vaulted rooms and a permanent museum space called “Tower Memories”.
The exhibition covers the following themes: The figure of King Philip the Fair; The Avignon area around the Rhône, from the Carolingian era to the French Revolution; The construction of a bridge in the medieval period; The discovery of the Avignon bridge in 3D in its landscape, at different times.

These four major themes are translated into a bilingual French-English course.
