Parc Chico Mendes

Fitness trail, football pitch, running path, children's playground, wide open spaces, lawns and groves make this park a green lung for many residents.

In 2020, thanks to the city's participatory budget called "La Ruche", a treetop adventure park with a zip line was created, much to the delight of children. Birthdays or get-togethers with friends are organized in the park, tables and deckchairs are provided.

Teenagers prefer to have fun on the "bowl": a skate track where they perform tricks and laughs.

The fishermen set up camp along the Canal de l'Hôpital, which crosses the park.

Others prefer the bowling alley, located next to a magnificent avenue of century-old plane trees.

Why was the park named Chico Mendes Park?
Francisco Alves Mendes Filho, known as Chico Mendes, was the most well-known Brazilian trade union leader and activist who defended the rights of workers collecting latex in the rubber plantations of the Amazon.
Chico Mendes became and remains a symbol of the defense of the Amazon and, more generally, of the environment and sustainable development. As such, his name has been given to numerous sites and infrastructures in France.

A special mention for the Cani'Parc, a dedicated space where dogs can romp and play freely under the watchful eye of their owners.
