Les Remparts d'Avignon

The ramparts, classified as World Heritage by UNESCO, surround the old town. 4,3 km long, they were started in 1355 under the pontificate of Innocent VI in order to repel the assaults of the Great Companies, and completed in 1370 with Urban V.

You can access part of these walls by entering the Pont d'Avignon and thus go up to the Rocher des Doms garden. The view of the city and the Rhône is superb.
