Le jardin du Rocher des Doms

The City is carrying out major rehabilitation work on the garden.
During this period, you can only access the belvedere and enjoy the panorama.
The garden will gradually reopen by the end of the work in June 2027.
This English-style garden, set on the rock overlooking the Palais des Papes, rises 30m above the Rhône and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the old town, the monuments and the landscapes of the Rhône plain as far as Mont-Ventoux.

It was the cradle of the city: archaeological studies attest to human occupation from the Neolithic period. The remains of this very ancient presence can now be admired at the Calvet Museum.
In the 19th century, major works were decided to develop it into a real park: trees and lawns from the old Jardin des Plantes were planted, water reservoirs were installed, a pond was created and statues of famous people adorned the route (Jean Althen, Félix Gras, “Vénus aux Hirondelles” by Félix Chapentier, etc.).

A large esplanade with an orientation table offers beautiful views of Mont Ventoux and the Rhône Valley.

Animals are not allowed.

At the foot of the Rock, on the Rhône side, a free river shuttle allows you to cross the river to go to the island of Barthelasse, a green setting and another place for walking.
