La Chartreuse – Centre national des écritures du spectacle

Nestled in the heart of the city, the Chartreuse du Val de Bénédiction is a jewel of Gothic architecture that stretches over nearly 2 hectares. Today, it is a Cultural Center that offers a year-round program.
Come and admire its masterpieces, the mausoleum of Pope Innocent VI and the frescoes of the painter Matteo Giovannetti and take the time to recharge your batteries in its gardens for a refreshing break.

Founded in the 14th century by Pope Innocent VI, it became one of the most prosperous in Europe until the mid-18th century. When the monks left during the Revolution, it was sold and inhabited by the villagers, before being restored at the beginning of the 20th century and becoming a Cultural Center in 1973.

This remarkable and unmissable heritage site is now driven by a cultural project centered around performance writing and hosts numerous artists in residence. Throughout the season, the Chartreuse offers a rich and varied cultural program (performances, readings, artistic encounters, temporary exhibitions, conferences, etc.).
