Created at the request of Pope Urban V in the 14th century behind the Palais des Papes, this orchard was originally part of a larger group of gardens from which the Pope benefited.
As its name suggests, this is where the Pope obtained the fruits for her table.
It is now a public garden, equipped with benches and a playground.
From the 16th century, it has preserved part of its rampart as well as its patrol path, now redesigned for the enjoyment of children.
At the time of Jean Vilar, this garden was a major venue for the Avignon Festival, where many artistic gatherings took place.
The garden has a wooden and metal children's play area with a suspension bridge and slide.
The place directly connects the Utopia cinema and the Place de la Mirande.
Animals are not allowed.
