The Carmes garden, adjacent to the church of the same name, offers a relaxing break in a small, peaceful, green park.
Space gradually gained from the urban fabric by the destruction of older buildings, on this site was located among others the chapel of the blue penitents, one of the 7 brotherhoods that Avignon knew, and of which very rare vestiges can be found in the surviving buildings.
The garden provides an opportunity to explore the nearby Carmelite Church and its adjoining cloister. Also known as the Church of St. Symphorien, it is the largest and most extensive church in Avignon and dates back to the 14th century. It is decorated with numerous works of art, including several paintings by Nicolas Mignard.
The garden offers a play area for children made of wood and metal: swings, castle...and, set back, a more intimate and calm space.
A collective composting area is installed.
Animals are not allowed.
