The Hôtel Madon de Châteaublanc is a magnificent 17th-century mansion, close to the Palais des Papes.
The price paid by masons Pierre Thibaud and JP Escoffier dates from November 5, 1687. The mansion was built for Jean-Pierre de Madon de Châteaublanc based on plans by Pierre II Mignard. Jean-Pierre de Madon de Châteauneuf founded the Maison du Bon Pasteur in 17021.
The interior decorations date from the time of Louis XV: woodwork, overmantels, painted door tops.
The courtyard is decorated with a pavement by Henri Barrelet, which features comets, probably a reminder of the passage of Halley's comet in 1759.
Protection
The hotel was listed as a historic monument on October 4, 1932, except for the parts listed as historic monuments on June 27, 1983: facades and roofs overlooking the streets and courtyard and the cobbled interior courtyard, the grand staircase with its wrought iron railing, the entrance vestibule and the dining room on the ground floor, the music room, the Natoire bedroom and the antechamber of the north wing on the first floor2.
