Chapelle de l'Oratoire

The Chapel of the Oratory of Avignon is located on rue Joseph Vernet.
This 1713th century building was begun in 1730, resumed in 1749 and finally completed in 1912. It has been listed as a historic monument since XNUMX.
The Oratorians settled in Avignon in 1646. They were authorized to settle in 1648. They acquired a house in the parish of Saint-Agricol. They were legatees of another house in 1666. They then opened a main seminary under the title of Saint Gregory the Great in 1669 with the support of the Archbishop of Avignon, Domenico de' Marini, which operated until 1702 after the opening of the Saint-Charles-de-la-Croix college. They established a first church there, blessed on February 25, 1667. The church survived until 1753.

The community was suppressed during the Revolution.
