Departing from the famous Pont d'Avignon, wind your way through the small roads of the Gard region, passing through its vineyards and charming villages. Heading for the Pont du Gard!
Heading for Gardon!
Day 1 > Avignon – Remoulins: 39km / +90m elevation gain
For this first day, we start gently with a course 100% on cycle path, just to warm up. The departure is from Avignon Central Station, then we follow the city walls to the Daladier Bridge, where you will have a superb view of the famous Pont d'Avignon (or rather, the Pont Saint Bénezet, for purists).

Crossing the Rhône, you will pass from Vaucluse to Gard ! We recommend a little detour to the Bourgas farm, in Les Angles, to stock up on fresh, local fruit and vegetables. If you're in the area on a Saturday morning, even better: it's market day on Place Roger Isnard.
Then, head for the Via Rhona, Direction aramon for a coffee and croissant break, before heading off to the charming medieval village of MontfrinIt's the perfect place for a picnic in the shade of a tree.
After Montfrin, you will join the Greenway from Pont-du-Gard, a real pleasure for cycling in complete safety, especially if you have children. At this point, you will already be halfway there!

Then you'll join the Voie Verte du Pont du Gard, which will take you... almost to your destination! But shh, we'll keep a little suspense for tomorrow morning!
Overnight stay recommended in Remoulins, at Camping de la Sousta.
Finally the bridge!
Day 2 > Remoulins – Villeneuve lez Avignon : 40km / +410m elevation gain.
And here we go for a second day of surprises and discoveries! The suspense is over and we're heading towards... the Pont du Gard!

An emblematic place of Romanity, Gard's Bridge is the highest Roman aqueduct in the world! A stop there will allow you to visit not only this work, but also to learn more about Roman engineering, and to enjoy the surrounding nature. We obviously recommend you take a break on one of the banks to enjoy it for a few moments, why not during a gourmet break in the morning?

We then continue on a day that is slightly hillier than the day before, but which is worth the effort: you will discover charming typical villages to the warm, golden stone. From Vers-Pont-du-Gard to Rochefort-du-Gard, passing through Castillon-du-Gard: you will be charmed! (Be careful, it’s a steep climb, but not for long, we assure you).
Caution! Be careful on the section between Castillon-du-Gard and Valliguières. The route follows a section of the D6086 (Bagnols road), which can sometimes be very busy. This section is only 3 km long, but be careful.
In Rochefort-du-Gard, don't hesitate to reward yourself for your efforts with an ice cream Gelateria Francesca.

After your stopover in Rochefort, head back to AnglesHere, we recommend a detour to the old village to, why not, discover the Painters' Trail or even the old washhouse!
We end the weekend in beauty direction Villeneuve lez AvignonWe recommend you stay an extra night here to discover all the treasures of the city the next day! Indeed, Villeneuve lez Avignon, also called the city of cardinals, is an unmissable stopover in the Grand AvignonDon't miss visiting its emblematic places such as the Saint-André abbey and its garden, the Saint André fort, the Philippe le Bel tower or the Chartreuse.
Recommended overnight stay at Villeneuve lez Avignon.

The imposing Fort St-Andre offers a crazy view of the region, while the Charterhouse of Villeneuve is a haven of peace to explore. With its tranquil atmosphere and charming little spots for eating or drinking, it's the perfect spot for a relaxing moment away from the hustle and bustle of Avignon.
