Description

From the Tourist Office, take Rue Marcel Fabrigoule to Rue de l'Hôpital (opposite the Notre-Dame Collegiate Church) and discover the Tour district. Under its arcades, the fairs that brought prosperity to Villeneuve were held.

Pass by the Cardinal de Canilhac Palace, then through the Place de l'Oratoire, take Rue Montée de la Tour. On your right, steps lead to a gate that opens onto the Colline des Mourgues. This 7-hectare walled park is a former cardinal's estate.

Climb the hill, taking a left after the orientation sign.

Its views of Avignon and Villeneuve, its oratories and paths make the Colline des Mourgues a preserved place of relaxation.

Continue straight ahead to the sports field which you go around on the right, a gate opens onto Rue de la Monnaie which you take on the left.

Down the street, at the corner of an old inn, a statue of the Virgin protects this once very lively crossroads.

Opposite, some remains of the palace of Pope Clement VI.
