Villa Velleron

Sandra and Urs Baumgartner welcome you to "VILLA VELLERON"!
Our charming guesthouse is a haven of peace and a retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the heart of Provence, in the southern Rhône Valley.
Villa Velleron, located in the old village of Velleron, a typical, non-touristy Provençal village, is the perfect starting point for excursions to the surrounding area or as a stopover on a sightseeing tour. Our beautiful village house is a little secret. In a 17th-century olive mill, our guests can choose from five stylishly and individually furnished rooms and a comfortable apartment. A shaded inner courtyard, a crystal-clear swimming pool, a romantic terrace, and a Provençal garden complete this idyllic setting in the heart of the lively old town of Velleron.
On select days, in addition to a hearty French breakfast, we offer dinners at the table d'hôtes. With a regional and seasonal menu, based on produce from the Velleron Farmers' Market.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and our special "Accueil Vélo" service (member since 2022) with, among other things, a locked garage, assistance in case of repairs and electrical outlets for charging electric bikes.
For our guests who do not bring their own bikes, we have professional partners in our neighborhood for bike rental with delivery service.
Whether you're cycling on a road bike, touring bike, mountain bike, or e-bike, the surrounding area and beyond offer a wide range of options. The website Provence Vélo – Cycling and mountain bike routes for everyone (provence-radfahren.de) provides an initial overview. We're happy to advise you before or during your stay in French, German, or English.
Velleron is located directly on the "VIA VENAISSIA" cycle route (V 861). This route crosses the former Comtat Venaissin (part of the Vaucluse department) and connects the "ViaRhôna" (EV17) to the "Méditerranée" (EV8) via Orange, Carpentras, Pernes-les-Fontaines, Velleron, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, and Robion in the Luberon. In some places, this cycle route follows the path of the old railway line. The route is straightforward and ideal for enjoying magnificent views of the vineyards, Mont Ventoux, and the villages.
The "Greenway" No. 11, with routes to Pernes-les-Fontaines and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, begins near the Villa Velleron. It runs partly alongside the Carpentras Canal in the hills around Velleron. This cycle path connects with other cycle routes in the region, such as the approximately 240 km Luberon cycle circuit. Avignon (with bicycle and luggage parking and a TGV connection) and Fontaine-de-Vaucluse are two examples of destinations easily accessible by bicycle.
The region offers several mountain bike routes, including those starting from Saumane-de-Vaucluse, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse or Pernes-Les-Fontaines, or several routes directly in the hills near Velleron.
Velleron is also within easy reach of the ultimate challenge for any racing cyclist, Mont Ventoux.
What is the best time to cycle in our region? In February, nature awakens with the blossoming of the almond trees. Until May, temperatures generally fluctuate between 20 and 25 degrees, just right for long bike rides through a landscape of flowering fruit trees and fields of aromatic herbs. In May, poppy fields bathe the landscape in a vibrant red, or at least add corresponding splashes of color. Summer in Provence is the lavender season and is rather hot and dry, often with deep blue skies. From June to September, the precipitation rate is low, and temperatures often exceed 30°C during the day. A light wind and sometimes the mistral wind refresh the atmosphere, especially at night. Autumn is often described as the most colorful time. Temperatures of over 25 degrees make being outside very pleasant. At this time of year, it is possible to catch a shower. The seasons from late March to late June and from late August to late October are described as the best and most pleasant for cyclists.
