The castle of the knight Folard was designed and built between 1710 and 1715 by the architect Jean-Baptiste Franque, author of the Hôtel de Villeneuve-Martignan in Avignon. Today, this site has been home to the Espace Culturel Folard since 2007.
The entire building surrounds a beautiful inner courtyard where the Morières-lès-Avignon Wind Festival takes place every June. The typically 2th-century façade is surrounded by two wings, which on the left serve as a shed for carriages and coaches, and on the right as stables. This latter building was transformed to reflect the changing lifestyles of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries.
This castle had become a fortified farm, used as a manor house by the Chevalier de Folard. It was the counterpart to the other fortified farms that were St. Laurent and Rodolphe. Hunts were organized there: it was the kingdom of hares and quails.
