Conservatoire du Grand Avignon Olivier Messiaen

The Conservatory of Grand Avignon Olivier Messiaen has nearly 3 m2 of space in the former 000th-century Avignon courthouse.

Musical education in Avignon has been documented since 1828 (music theory and singing at the municipal music school). It was not until 1856 that a municipal instrumental music school was established. The institution became a national music school in 1916, then officially a branch of the Paris National Conservatory in 1948. It was named after Olivier Messiaen in 1984.

The Olivier Messiaen Conservatory is a key institution in the local cultural landscape. Revealing talent and renowned for its teaching, it allows Grand Avignon to fully achieve its ambition in artistic education.
It has influence over two departments and two regions. More than 2 students receive quality education in music, dance, and theater each year.
