AJMI
The AJMI, an association for improvised jazz and music, defends the image of creative and dynamic jazz and presents several concerts: jazz, improvised music, open stage evenings, conferences and workshops... throughout the year.
Jazz scene and label in Avignon.
The best way to hear jazz is to see it!
The AJMi, Association for Jazz and Improvised Music, has existed for over 30 years in Avignon, with the aim of defending and promoting jazz music through production and distribution activities. Internationally recognized, it hosts concerts in its own venue featuring the best musicians on the current jazz scene, both well-known and soon-to-be known.
Labeled SMAC, the AJMi offers weekly concerts all year round, from October to June. Since 1978, the AJMi has welcomed more than 1500 musicians such as Michel Petrucciani, Louis Sclavis, Claude Barthélémy, René Bottlang, David S. Ware, Nathalie Loriers, Claude Tchamitchian, Rémi Charmasson, Chris Potter, Jean-Pierre Jullian, Scott Colley, David Linx, Sheila Jordan, Bernard Santacruz, Marc Ducret, Mina Agossi, Bruno Chevillon...
The AJMi records an average of 100 spectators per concert each year; an encouraging and promising figure for a venue so specialized in such programming!
This is how this association fervently defends the image of contemporary, creative and dynamic jazz, constantly evolving. It is in this sense that it sets out to conquer audiences, by opening up to other concert halls, various cultural venues, schools, youth programs, but also to the business world...
Everything at the AJMi is designed to provide a warm and friendly welcome to the public, while respecting the listening of music.
So, dare to try jazz!
