The Sorgue: an exceptional river

commune of Vedène
Bardi Park and the Sorgues

The Sorgue River originates at Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The chasm, located 80 meters above sea level, remains a mystery to this day, the subject of numerous scientific studies. Shaped by man, the Sorgue's hydrographic network works "in reverse": it begins as a single branch and then divides.

An emblematic historical and geographical site, it has inspired many poets, including Petrarch in the 2000th century and, more recently, René Char. The Sorgue's low and constant temperature, coupled with a consistently steady flow, gives this river excellent oxygenation. These ideal conditions allow it to support a highly diverse ecosystem. It has been classified as a Natura XNUMX zone along its entire length.

Grand Plantier Estate

For wine lovers, this is an opportunity to discover an unusual estate. A family-run building surrounded by six hectares of vines, Domaine du Grand Plantier stands out for its his respect for traditions.

To design their wines in AOC Côtes du Rhône, the sorting of the harvest is done by hand and they also kept a rare ancient method of winemaking : “saignée”. The barely tinted grape juice is extracted and left to ferment without being pressed, until fermentation is complete, which gives great finesse to this “night wine”.
