Historical tour
Discover the history of Caumont-sur-Durance through its treasures. From the Roman garden to the fossil beach, embark on a walk that will take you on a journey through the centuries.
This now fossilized beach preserves traces of the life that once inhabited it. On this rocky slab, you can observe the footprints left by the animals that lived here, in the current location of Caumont, more than 5 million years ago: sea urchins, sponges, worms and other mollusks.

After a great leap in time, we find ourselves in the 12th century, with the Chapel Saint-Symphorien, considered the first parish church of Caumont. If we fast-forward a little, we see the centuries unfold before our eyes, with the 15th-century church of L'Agache, the 16th-century chapel of the White Penitents, the 17th-century rectory, and the parish church from the 18th century.
We recommend taking a break to admire the panoramic views from the ramparts and to discover local traditions at the olive oil presses. Don't miss the remains historical sites, such as the Cavaillon gate, and finish with the Notre Dame des Pauvres chapel, integrated into the Town Hall.
