Whether you're traveling for business or sightseeing, the train is a great way to get to our beautiful region! Grand Avignon is served by six train stations, including a TGV station with trains from major French cities like Paris, Lyon, Marseille, and Montpellier. Once there, you can use public transportation that extends throughout our region.
Avignon, the epicenter
To arrive in a municipality of Grand Avignon from all over France or Europe, you will probably have to first join Avignon. With its 2 main stations (3 in total), The Vaucluse prefecture is a transport hub in the department.
Avignon city center train station
Located a stone's throw from the historic center of Avignon and just a fifteen-minute walk from Palais des PapesAvignon Centre station occupies a central position in the regional transport network. Served by the TER trains of the Occitanie region and the southern region, it also facilitates connections with the streetcar and several lines of bus urban and intercity connections make travel to and from Avignon particularly accessible. You will thus be able to easily reach Lyon, Marseille and Montpellier.
Avignon TGV
La Avignon TGV station is located 6 km south of the city centre. It is a major rail transport hub with its 6 tracks serving nearly 130 daily trains, including TGV, Intercités and TER, while bus et taxis connect the station to the heart of Avignon.
Thanks to this station, you are 2 hours 45 minutes from Paris, 1 hour from Lyon and less than 40 minutes from Marseille!

In Occitania with the TER Lio
Service Free bike reservation, mandatory and limited in number for all travelers:
- Every day (including weekends and public holidays) from July 1st to August 31st;
- And every Saturday, Sunday and public holiday the rest of the year..
In the South region
From May 1st to September 27th, 2026 (except during periods of construction), reservations are mandatory and cost €1 for bringing bicycles on board certain TER lines.
The lines concerned (every day from 01/07 to 31/08) :
Lyon – Marseille (including the trains Lyon – Avignon, Lyon – Marseille, Valence – Marseille, and Valence – Avignon).
Excluding July/August, weekends, public holidays and Friday, May 15th

On board an OUIGO
For a bicycle on OUIGO, it is mandatory to subscribe to the “Bicycle” option at €5.
Secure bicycle parking for your bike
** Recumbent bicycles, tricycles, tandems, cargo bikes, longtails, trailers are not allowed on trains.
