Conservatoire du Grand Avignon 1-3 rue du Général Leclerc 84000 Avignon

Concert

This program offers a journey through the most significant pages of Georg Friedrich Händel, where the theater of emotions and moral reflection merge in a typically baroque synthesis.

The opening cantata, "Lungi da me, pensier tiranno," immediately reveals the young composer's mastery in conveying the contrast between inner turmoil and rationality. This psychological exploration continues in arias from operatic masterpieces such as Ariodante, Giulio Cesare, and Rinaldo, whose protagonists embody the Baroque hero suspended between virtue and passion, expressed through virtuosic vocal writing with strong dramatic impact. Alongside the celebrated melodic purity of "Lascia la spina," the program incorporates the instrumental dimension of Suites HWV 427, 432, and 437: here, stylized dances like the Sarabande and the Passacaglia take on an almost philosophical rhetorical density, offering moments of suspended meditation. The journey thus undulates between theatricality and introspection, culminating in the vigor of works such as Tolomeo and Tamerlano, testimonies to the extraordinary modernity and magnificent sonic solemnity of the "Caro Sassone".
