Visite guidée de l'exposition Carte blanche à l'artiste Julie Dulcamara

Bibliothèque Ceccano 2 bis rue Laboureur 84000 Avignon

Guided and / or commented visit

Embroidered clouds, and beneath them long silver threads: this is how the rain falls at Julie Dulcamara's.

Elsewhere, faces reduced to their outlines let thoughts drift away like smoke, closed eyes weep silently. Her world unfolds in small touches, intimate and somewhat mysterious. Everything begins with materials she collects: linen, cotton, sometimes a simple pillowcase, which she then covers with embroidery. Julie loves exploring a thousand things at once: the earth, papers, the materials she assembles. Nature always returns, trees especially, clouds, rain. Her palette remains understated: black, white, ecru, occasionally punctuated by a deep blue. Her world remains hushed, a bubble where gentleness prevails even in the rain, in a region bathed in sunshine. Embroidery, patient and meticulous, has soothed this artist who is brimming with ideas and wakes up each morning with her mind already wandering to a new piece. Her love of creation comes from afar, from a painter father and a childhood surrounded by canvases and exhibitions. After studying applied arts in Paris and working in fashion for years, she began painting for herself in her thirties. Today, her home and studio are combined in a former warehouse with high ceilings, filled with her artwork and found objects. Discreet by nature, Julie lets her creations speak for themselves, inviting everyone to enter this delicate realm.

A friendly get-together will be offered at the end of the visit.
