Discover a masterpiece of Provençal art from the Middle Ages, commissioned by the monks of the Chartreuse from Enguerrand Quarton in the 15th century, in the company of a cultural mediator from the Gard Departmental Conservation.
Painted by the French artist Enguerrand Quarton between 1453 and 1454, a major painter whose essential work is held in the Louvre Museum, the splendid altarpiece of the Coronation of the Virgin was commissioned by the monks of the Charterhouse of Villeneuve lez Avignon to adorn the funerary chapel of Pope Innocent VI.
