Avignon Tourism offers families the opportunity to immerse themselves in the daily life of a 14th-century lord by exploring the organization of a princely residence, its services, its rhythms and its moments of pomp.

You will understand how the spaces, trades and functions necessary for the smooth running of lordly life were structured and you will extend this discovery with a sensory workshop around medieval gastronomy.

Guided Tour
1. The foundations of a princely residence
Discover the architecture and organizational logic of a medieval palace: public rooms, private spaces, service areas. Gain insight into the social hierarchy and the needs of a lord surrounded by his court.
2. Services and how they work
Observation of the various trades essential to daily life: housekeeping, kitchen, security, chapel, bedrooms, stables. Explanation of each person's role, the collective discipline, and the coordination necessary to run a prestigious residence.
3. The Lord's Daily Life
Description of daily activities: audiences, meals, prayers, travel, management of the estate.
4. Exceptional moments
Immerse yourself in the world of parties, banquets, ceremonies and diplomatic receptions. Discover the codes of representation, etiquette and the staging of power.

Workshop: "Flavors and scents of the Middle Ages"
Process
• Presentation of typical foods from the 14th century: cereals, dried fruits, spices, herbs, drinks.
• Sensory exploration: smelling, touching, observing the ingredients.
• Discovering rare spices and their symbolic and economic value.

• Understand the importance of food in medieval culture.
• Stimulate children's senses and curiosity.
