Rencontres et lectures au Festival d'Avignon

Divers lieux 84000 Avignon

Conference / Debate / Meeting

Throughout its edition, the Avignon Festival organizes nearly 300 free events: readings and meetings will punctuate the rich program of shows.

– Meetings: The Café of Ideas at the Cloister of Saint-Louis
Every day, this is a place for speeches and reflections by leading figures in literature, the performing arts, and research. Debates, conferences, workshops, and broadcasts punctuate this space, which embodies the spirit of the Avignon Festival: a space for sharing and discovery, open to everyone.

– Reading series: Ça va ça va le monde! in the courtyard of the Calvet Museum
In a world beset by wars, crises, and violence, world literature, and theater in particular, cannot remain silent. Since 2013, Ça va, ça va le monde! has been giving voice to Francophone dramatic writing from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Arab world. Through RFI's series of readings, these texts, rooted in the social and political realities of their territories, find a space for resonance and sharing.

– Reading series: Fictions from France Culture in the courtyard of the Calvet Museum
Every summer, France Culture takes over the courtyard of the Calvet Museum for a week of readings, poetry, reflection, and creative expression. In conjunction with the Avignon Festival program, this edition celebrates Arabic culture and language, its literature, and its musicality. Leading actors and actresses will lend their voices to iconic texts, accompanied by authors, poets, musicians, and artists invited for the occasion. Novelist Leïla Slimani will be the featured guest of this edition, which reaffirms France Culture's commitment to artistic creation.

– Reading series: The Breath of Avignon, July 8, 10-13, and 15-19 in the Gardens of the Palace of the Popes
This series of readings highlights contemporary voices in theatre, offering authors a privileged space to share their often unpublished works. These readings, attended by the authors themselves, invite the audience to discover current writing within a historical and symbolic context: the birthplace of the Avignon Festival.

– Partnership with libraries: children’s stories about Korean culture.

– Free activities at the Maison Jean Vilar:
* The authors' best hours: July 10, 11
This unique event invites you to discover today's theatre and to delve into the rich imaginations of the authors.

* Screenings: A look back at images with Arte: July 7, 14
ARTE and the Maison Jean Vilar invite you to (re)live the history and present of the Avignon Festival, up close to the artists and the creative process, with a selection of archives followed by meetings with choreographers Mathilde Monnier and Boris Charmatz and historian Patrick Boucheron.
