Rapprochement des peuples
Opéra Grand Avignon place de l'Horloge 84000 Avignon
In this year of commemoration of the centenary of the Armenian genocide perpetrated by Turkey, ONAP remembers and unites people in a concert allowing us to hear the music of two figures of Armenian and Turkish music.
Fazil Say's "Adagio" invites us to discover the composer's talent of the pianist from Ankara, while Aram Khachaturian's "Cello Concerto in E minor" conveys a message of peace through the fingers of cellist Astrig Siranossian. The mediator Johannes Brahms watches over these two pieces with his monumental "First Symphony," a reconciliation between the German and a musical genre that frightened him for many years due to the intimidating legacy of his role model: Beethoven.
