Rando-Douce à Caderousse : L’Ancienne Digue

The group travels by minibus to the start of the hike (meeting at Ile Piot at 8am).

This hike offers a peaceful journey through hidden heritage sites and the sweeping landscapes of the Rhône Valley. Starting from the Saint-Martin chapel, the route follows wide farm tracks. Depending on the season, you'll pass vineyards, cereal crops, or meadows, with beautiful views across the alluvial plain. The path follows the old dike, a remnant of the structures built to contain the Rhône's floods, long feared in this area. This earthen embankment, now an integral part of the landscape, provides a very pleasant elevated walkway. You can see the river's branches, the wetlands, and, in the distance, the hills of the Vaucluse region.
The return to Caderousse is a gentle journey along rural paths, between canals and agricultural plots, with the feeling of having travelled through a territory where hydraulic history and peasant life have profoundly shaped the landscape.
