Présentation de l'Orgue Jullien à la Collégiale

The construction of the current organ was initiated by the brothers Barthélémy and Honoré Jullien, organ builders in Marseille in 1690, at least for the instrumental part.
Its Carolingian wood case is more recent (late 18th century). It comprises 17 stops. The Roquemaure organ certainly contains the largest and most homogeneous set of pipes known from the 17th century. These pipes are mounted on their original windchests.
In 1975, the Ministry of Culture decided on a complete restoration of the instrument, supported by the Association for the Defense and Restoration of the Roquemaure Organ, created for this purpose. Organ builder Pierre Cheron worked on the restoration for two months, then Pascal Quoirin restored the instrument, and his workshops have continued the organ's maintenance since November 1987.

After studying at the Marseille Regional Conservatory of Music, Jean-Marie Puli obtained a First Prize in harpsichord, and he furthered his studies in Paris with Huguette Dreyfus. He then expanded his organ repertoire at international academies in France and Spain in the classes of Xavier Darasse, André Stricker, and José-Luis Gonzales-Uriol.
In the meantime, he chose to settle in Avignon where he became organist of the Temple Saint Martial, of which he is now an honorary titular organist.

He collaborates as both organist and harpsichordist with the Avignon and Aix-en-Provence Festivals, as well as the Chorégies d'Orange. He is also invited to perform Spanish and French Baroque repertoire in France and abroad. He has a particular affinity for late 19th-century Italian organ music.
As a choir director, he created the Avignon University Choir, the Homilius Vocal Ensemble and the I Sedici choir.

After having been an accompanist for Marion Sylvestre's singing class, he opened classes in solfège for singers and choral sight-reading.
He now devotes himself to teaching harpsichord, basso continuo and music theory at the regional music conservatory of Grand Avignon.
He has often in the past played the historic organs of the Collegiate Church of Saint Martha in Tarascon.
When Jean-Marie Puli is not making music, he devotes himself to his friends, cooking and traveling.
