Polyphonies de la Renaissance – Ensemble La Sportelle
Collégiale Saint-Didier place Saint-didier 84000 Avignon
This program pays tribute to the two major female figures of the Gospels: Mary, mother of Jesus, and Mary Magdalene.
The first part of the concert features the most beautiful pieces of Italian and Spanish Renaissance polyphony, including the sublime Versa est in luctum by Alonso Lobo, the Crucifixus by Antonio Lotti, and the sumptuous Miserere by Allegri.
After the great Missa Salve Regina by Tomás Luis de Victoria for 8 voices, the spatialized polyphonies for 4, 6 and 8 voices alternate with beautiful Gregorian antiphons.
