An actress takes the stage to portray Mata Hari, but nothing goes as planned. She wants to deviate from the script, which she considers too literary. She doesn't want to tell the spy's story.
She makes ironic comments, dances, sings, rages, stumbles, gets up and little by little, Mata Hari appears, the actress and her character merge, past and present, fiction and reality become one.
In a whirlwind, the audience discovers the adventures of a 20th-century icon whom history has frozen in the status of a spy, and those of this woman who tries to survive on stage, fighting against her stage manager and against her demons to remain, still, in the spotlight.
