Macadam is the desire to combine contemporary dance and skateboarding in a choreographic creation for public spaces and/or non-dedicated places in order to reach out to teenagers.
From Californian surfers in the 50s to its inclusion as an Olympic discipline in 2016, via the punk and urban culture of the 80s and 90s, skateboarding symbolizes youth, the search for freedom, the spirit of rebellion, perseverance and self-affirmation, making it an ideal gateway to connect with young people and, more broadly, the general public.
Asphalt is also the surface of the ground in public spaces, a place for skateboarding but also a place for meeting, for living together, for celebrations as well as protests. This new creation aims to develop a new relationship with the audience, one that is more direct, accessible, and spontaneous.
