Les Samedis de la Maison Jean Vilar – Projection-rencontre "Ariane Mnouchkine, l'aventure du Théâtre du Soleil" de Catherine Vilpoux

These Saturdays at the Maison Jean Vilar take the form of round tables, interviews, or conferences, sometimes extended or accompanied by screenings of films or documentaries related to the chosen theme. These events are also an opportunity to promote the funds and collections preserved at the Maison Jean Vilar.

On the program for May 2nd: Screening and discussion “Ariane Mnouchkine, the adventure of the Théâtre du Soleil” by Catherine Vilpoux
In this film, Catherine Vilpoux retraces the journey of Ariane Mnouchkine: her inspirations, her dream of theatre, her love of cinema, and the exceptional bond she forged with audiences. Through numerous archival materials, some previously unseen, excerpts from performances, rehearsals, travel footage, and interviews, a multifaceted portrait emerges of the Théâtre du Soleil, its artistic and political commitment in France and abroad, which was recognized in September 2009 in Oslo with the Ibsen Prize.
With Béatrice Picon-Vallin, emeritus research director at the CNRS, she devotes part of her research to the history and theory of stage direction.
