Les Samedis de la Maison Jean Vilar – Label Chartreuse à la Maison Jean Vilar
Maison Jean Vilar 8 rue de Mons Montée Paul Puaux 84000 Avignon
The Jean Vilar Association and the National Library of France offer a regular series of meetings related to the themes pursued by the Maison Jean Vilar since its creation, as well as current events in the performing arts.
These Saturdays at the Maison Jean Vilar take the form of round tables, interviews, or conferences, sometimes extended or accompanied by screenings of films or documentaries related to the chosen theme. These events are also an opportunity to promote the funds and collections preserved at the Maison Jean Vilar.
On the program for March 7th: Chartreuse Label at the Maison Jean Vilar
A major cultural venue in the metropolis of Grand Avignon, the Charterhouse of Villeneuve lez Avignon is a living space where contemporary writing, heritage architecture and exhibitions intersect. Formerly a monastery which became a cultural meeting center in 1973, then a national center for performing arts writing in 1992, it welcomes more than 150 artists each year in residence and creation, in thirty former monks' cells conducive to retreat and experimentation.
At the invitation of the Maison Jean Vilar, this event brings together two playwrights currently in residence at the Chartreuse, alongside Marianne Clevy, director, and Christian Giriat, dramaturgical advisor. Together, they will share with the audience what makes the writing residency so unique: its challenges, its rhythms, its doubts and its richness, and will give voice to those who write for live performance today.
