The Jean Vilar Association and the National Library of France offer a regular series of meetings related to the themes pursued by the Maison Jean Vilar since its creation, as well as current events in the performing arts.
These Saturdays at the Maison Jean Vilar take the form of round tables, interviews, or conferences, sometimes extended or accompanied by screenings of films or documentaries related to the chosen theme. These events are also an opportunity to promote the funds and collections preserved at the Maison Jean Vilar.
On the program for Saturday, January 10: Libraries put to the test on the stage
— Round table discussion moderated by Jean-Baptiste Raze, curator of the BnF branch of the Maison Jean Vilar.
— With the participation of Béatrice Picon-Vallin, emeritus research director at the CNRS (THALIM laboratory), Ada Ackerman, research fellow at the CNRS (THALIM laboratory) and Jérôme Triaud, director of Avignon Libraries.
To mark the publication of the book *Libraries Put to the Test on the Stage*, published by Otrante, this roundtable discussion will explore the many intersections between the worlds of libraries and theater. What does the library setting offer in terms of dramaturgy, staging, and spatial organization? What kind of presence do the staged books embody? What do these artistic gestures tell us about the evolution of the library as a space, and what do they reveal about the worlds of theater, dance, and music? These are some of the questions this book attempts to answer, and they will inform the discussion between Béatrice Picon-Vallin and Ada Ackerman, its editors, and Jérôme Triaud, director of Avignon Libraries, whose Ceccano media library regularly hosts performances during the Festival.
