On the program for November 7th: Around the creation of Einstein on the beach at the Opera Grand Avignon
The opera Einstein on the Beach premiered on July 25, 1976, at the Avignon Opera House, as part of the 30th Festival. A resounding success that year, it made a lasting impression with its innovative approach to stage music and, more broadly, helped to write a new chapter in the history of music. Through its relentless and repetitive rhythm, Philip Glass delivers a monument of minimalist music. Let's delve into this masterful opera with Jacqueline Caux, who witnessed its creation and will let us (re)discover the most important pieces from this now-iconic work.

15 p.m.: HUMAN NATURE – Choreographed Performance
— With students from the Conservatory of Grand Avignon directed by Diane Soubeyre, with a sound design by Olivier Vicedo based on Einstein on the beach

16 p.m.: MEETING
— With Jacqueline Caux, documentary filmmaker, producer and specialist in Einstein on the Beach, Julie Deramond, curator of the two anniversary exhibitions for the Bicentennial of the Opera Grand Avignon and Kevin Bernard, historian of the Avignon Festival venues
