Les précieuses ridicules

The "preciousness" was then wreaking havoc in high society, and the brilliant Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, returning from the provinces, only had to use a stroke of his pen to add the adjective "ridiculous"!
Preciousness is the image of a society obsessed with appearances, and Paris in the play is its symbol.

This appearance, this ridiculous preciousness, now wears new costumes but remains the same pompous counterfeit of reality: it no longer seeks its inspiration in romantic literature as in the 17th century, but in fashion, the star system, song and lately, influencers.

A theatre that is at once a "popular festival" and an "existential journey"!
