Les Hivernales, festival de danse – 48e édition

The unmissable event in the heart of winter!

Founded in 1979, the Hivernales festival has become a key event for contemporary dance in France. From the very first edition, Amélie Grand, the festival's founder, adopted a specific approach: guest artists give workshops, workshops for all levels, or classes reserved for professionals during the day and perform their shows in the evening. The event thus becomes a conduit between amateurs and professionals.

As part of its annual programming, Les Hivernales, one of whose goals is to be a mirror of the vitality of contemporary dance, has invited a number of choreographers who have proposed creations that offer a wide range of choreographic art: Boris Charmatz, Philippe Découflé, Angelin Preljocaj, Maguy Marin, etc.

All the richness of contemporary dance is presented in Avignon and the surrounding area.

For this 48th edition, you will be able to (re)discover the choreographers: Fabien Almakiewicz, Julien Andujar, Nacim Battou, Doria Belanger, Marion Blondeau, Caroline Breton, Marco da Silva Ferreira, Flora Détraz, Madeleine Fournier, Christine Fricker, Massimo Fusco, Sylvain Huc, Sophie Jacotot and Anatole Lorne, Michel Kelemenis, Quelen Lamouroux, Thi Mai Nguyen, Marina Otero, Nans Pierson, Thibaut Ras, Vânia Vaneau, Léa Vinette, Chloé Zamboni, Erika Zueneli…

An edition that will showcase the full richness of dance with 21 companies, 28 performances, 7 creations for 2024-2025, 9 creations for 2026, 3 premieres and 1 regional premiere, but also screenings, residency showings, performances…

Eager to awaken the imagination of younger generations and continue the work undertaken for dance in schools, the CDCN team will offer a time dedicated to children and families, Les HiverÔmomes, with 9 performances for young audiences.

A strong focus of the festival since its creation, Les Hivernales will also include 10 internship offers, as many opportunities to understand contemporary dance in all its diversity.
