Les chocs post traumatiques chez les victimes d’attentats

Organised by Eric Wenzel, legal historian and head of defence and security teaching, this event is held under the auspices of the University President.

The conference will be led by Virginie Leclercq, president of the national association of gendarmerie families. She will offer a multidisciplinary approach to a complex subject, at the crossroads of law, health, and human experience.

This intervention will be structured around three complementary axes:

A legal approach, provided by Maître Mouhou, lawyer, focusing on the status of victims, the legal recognition of trauma, procedures, rights, compensation and the impact of the legal process on mental health;
The words of victims of attacks, testifying to their experience of trauma, their care journey, treatments, difficulties encountered, as well as their reconstruction over several years;
A comprehensive reflection on the conditions of care, the coordination of care, the caregiver-patient relationship and the improvement of support mechanisms.

The aim of this conference is to enable students and future healthcare professionals to better understand:
The complexity of post-traumatic stress,
The lasting and often invisible psychological suffering of the victims,
The reality of long reconstruction processes,
The impact of the legal framework on the healthcare pathway,
The importance of a humane, empathetic and coordinated approach in care.

This intervention is part of an educational approach aimed at improving the quality of care, understanding of psychological trauma and long-term legal support for victims.
