Les animaux, ça vous parle ?
Le Grenier à sel 2 rue du Rempart Saint-Lazare 84000 Avignon
The Grenier à sel presents the 3rd part of the “Symptoms of Life” cycle, with an exhibition that examines the animal kingdom and its specific modes of communication through the eyes of 10 contemporary artists.
To explore the question of animal language, the exhibition brings together artists who view creation as a space for dialogue with the living. Working mostly with digital tools (AI, robotics, sound art, augmented reality, drawn animation, video, etc.), the artists presented are each interested in the mysteries of the animal world, its gestures, and its emotions.
Three themes intersect throughout a journey where the animal is alternately observed, listened to, examined, but also fantasized about, dreamed of, and invested with our fears and fascinations. From animal eloquence to interspecies communication, including the voices we attribute to them, this exhibition gives pride of place to animal existence. Perhaps, through an aesthetic experience, it will encourage the human subject to adjust their view of animals and to consider another form of encounter where animals no longer play the role of extras in our history.
With Erik Bünger – France Cadet – Dominique Castell – Nicolas Darrot – Lab212 – Jean Painlevé – Daniel Spoerri – Everything remains to be done – Knud Viktor – Filipe Vilas-Boas
