Le théâtre des maudits

In a poor fishing village occupied by the enemy, a theatre troupe arrives to bring a little hope through art. But their arrival brings back a painful past: the mayor, Simca Tremen, recognizes in their leader, Vassili Chopalovitch, the man who once abandoned her and the hidden father of her eldest daughter, Tomania.
Driven by hatred and a thirst for revenge, Simca manipulates the townspeople against the troupe. The situation spirals out of control when Tomania murders Sophie, Vassili's acknowledged daughter. A cycle of violence ensues: attempted revenge, intervention by relatives, gunfire, and sacrifice.
The story ends in a bloodbath, where human passions and secrets destroy everything, in an atmosphere worthy of a Greek tragedy.
