By alternating biographical episodes and some of his famous letters, The Other Galileo offers an unexpected portrait of the great Italian scientist Galileo Galilei.
Beyond the somewhat stern old gentleman who had to renounce his convictions, we encounter the passionate and ambitious young scientist, clever and subversive, who fought all his life for freedom of thought.
For religious authorities, his philosophical theories – which recommended the separation between reason and religion, belief and knowledge – were no less dangerous than asserting that the Earth revolves!
Through his life and writings, Galileo embodies a message of freedom and tolerance, which is unfortunately still very relevant today.
