La fantasy ? Le Moyen Âge l’avait déjà inventée !
Bibliothèque Ceccano 2 bis rue Laboureur 84000 Avignon
Dragons, sorceresses, impossible quests... Contemporary fantasy has its roots in medieval legends. But who are the ancestors of our heroes and our enchanted worlds?
From the Knights of the Round Table, such as Segurant and Alexander the Orphan, to sorceress Morgan and Viviane, and through Nordic myths, this exchange plunges us into the heart of a 700-year-old imagination, which continues to inspire imaginary literature.
It will reveal the research and creative work of the author and researcher who discovered, in medieval manuscripts, the unknown novel of the Knight of the Dragon... and who continues today his quest for other forgotten legendary figures.
Emanuele Arioli is a research director at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. A specialist in the legend of King Arthur, he reconstructed the medieval novel “Ségurant, le Chevalier au Dragon” (Belles Lettres, 2023), thanks to ten years of research on medieval manuscripts. He also published “Alexandre l'Orphelin” (Les Belles Lettres, 2024), and “Les Chevaliers de la Table Ronde” (Seuil, 2024). He is also the author, with the illustrator Emiliano Tanzillo, of the comic book series “Le Chevalier au Dragon” and the children's adaptation
“Ségurant” (Youth Threshold 2024).
Free access.
