Kim Gordon – Stories for a body
Collection Lambert 5 rue Violette 84000 Avignon
Kim Gordon is a major figure in the contemporary art and culture scene. She develops an experimental artistic practice fueled by a radical and subversive reflection and an extraordinary punk energy.
Recognized for her major role in the history of alternative music, as a founding member of the groups Sonic Youth, Free Kitten, and Body/Head, her work also extends to visual arts and writing. She also works as an art critic, is involved in the fashion world, and develops a practice as an actress and director in film and video.
At the Lambert Collection, she is displaying a wide selection of works from the last ten years, including several previously unseen pieces. Arranged as a total installation, the collection of paintings, watercolors, sculptures and videos tells the story of the place of beings in a world governed by technological fetishism and the glorification of the commodity-object, where the political and the intimate are irrevocably intertwined, where the performative body emerges as the powerful form of a possible resurgence.
