Jazz Story #4 – L’art du trio, vol. 2

A moment for sharing and listening for all jazz and vinyl enthusiasts. A shared aperitif is offered before the conference, at 18 p.m.

Following the initial developments discussed in the first episode, the 50s to 70s saw the emergence of various approaches to the trio format, beyond the traditional piano/bass/drums. Less common instrumentations experimented with new sounds: organ/saxophone/drums (Jimmy Smith, Shirley Scott), saxophone/double bass/drums (Sonny Rollins, Joe Henderson, Max Roach), clarinet/trumpet/drums (Shelly Manne, Shorty Rogers, Jimmy Giuffre), and vocal trios (Lambert/Hendricks/Ross). We will listen to them.
