Hôtel des deux mondes
Théâtre de la Tache d'Encre 1, rue Tarasque 84000 Avignon
A tragicomedy in which Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt tackles the question of life after death with lightness, finesse, theatrical modernity, and humor. A metaphysical suspense between dream and reality, a philosophical comedy.
The Hotel of Two Worlds is a play set in a mysterious place: a hotel outside of time, between life and death. The hotel's guests don't know how they got there, nor whether they will return to life or perish forever. Each awaits a fateful decision, unaware of their destiny. Among them, we follow the story of Julien, a rational and skeptical man, who gradually opens himself to spirituality and love, particularly through his encounter with Laura, a radiant young woman.
Through this philosophical fable, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt questions the notions of destiny, freedom, faith and the meaning of life.
