Extras ! Le Festival d’Avignon en cinq spectacles
Maison Jean Vilar 8 rue de Mons Montée Paul Puaux 84000 Avignon
In this year of the inauguration of its permanent exhibition The Keys to the Festival, the Jean Vilar Association has initiated a new series of cultural activities resolutely focused on the transmission of the history of contemporary theatre and the Avignon Festival.
“Extra places! Making theatre out of everything, making theatre everywhere” and The Power of Flowers are two artistic, heritage and participatory projects that invite the inhabitants of Avignon to go and discover the places and shows of the Festival.
Through the exploration of archives and the practice of photography, theater, linocut, watercolor, and collage, participants were led to engage with this heritage and to discover the unique artistic languages and worlds present in the Festival's program. They were guided in this process by artists Thomas Bohl, Marie Darodes, Pauline Tralongo, and the Compagnie Maâloum.
This installation-style presentation also offers a unique opportunity to showcase five iconic shows from the Avignon Festival. Come discover or rediscover “Gilgamesh” by Pascal Rambert, “Nelken” by Pina Bausch, “Life: A User's Manual” by Michael Lonsdale, “Champ d'expériences premier” by the Ilotopie collective, and “Sonoma” by Marcos Mauro…
These are all unique artistic adventures that have contributed to writing the history of this extraordinary Festival!
Opening on Wednesday, December 10 at 18 a.m.
Free access.
