Être ou ne pas être
Théâtre Benoit XII 12 rue des Teinturiers 84000 Avignon
A moving tribute to live performance and to the people from all walks of life who have crossed his path as an artist. But also, above all, a hymn to filial and maternal love.
To be or not to be could be the story of a little boy who dreamed of becoming a professional footballer, or that of a teenager who has a father known in the world of theatre and who is trying to make his way in it.
Two passions born in childhood: football and theatre. In a masterful one-man show, William Mesguich recounts his childhood, adolescence, and adult life. He tells how an interrupted dream allowed another passion, already present within him, to flourish. In 2014, he played Hamlet in a production directed by Daniel Mesguich: this performance was a crowning achievement, a passing of the torch between father and son.
In this tender, funny, generous testimony, he recounts theatrical adventures that were sometimes ludicrous, but lived with passion, and above all his encounter with another William, Shakespeare.
