This famous work by the English composer Henry Purcell is inspired by Virgil's story, where Aeneas, a Trojan warrior, falls in love with Dido, Queen of Carthage, and desires to share his life and kingdom with her...

But Fate, darkly stirred by evil witches, will have it otherwise... Aeneas will have to leave Carthage for Italy against his will... thus abandoning Dido to her death and the inevitable destruction of Carthage.
